This is a reminder to all residents that the Town of Phillipston General By-Laws state in Article XV Section 1 A-F that the house number shall be attached to each dwelling, whether business or residential, in the Town of Phillipston. The number shall be made of permanent, weather-proof materials, at least three (3) inches in height, and clearly visible from the street or roadway upon which the structure fronts. If a house is not visible from the road then the number should be posted on a suitable support at the entrance of the driveway. Failure to comply with this By-Law shall subject property owners to a fine of not more than twenty ($20.00) dollars for each offense. Each day shall constitute a separate offense.
Article IX of the Town of Phillipston General By-Laws prohibits the storage of more than one (1) unregistered motor vehicle on any individual property. Failure to comply with this By-Law shall be fined in an amount not exceeding twenty ($20.00) dollars. Each day such violation is committed, or permitted to continue, shall constitute a separate offense.
State Building Code requires that a permit to install a wood burning appliance be obtained from the Building Department, and an inspection to follow to complete the process for it to be considered legal.
Contractors advertising for installing windows, siding, roofs, wood burning appliances, and demolition of one and two family dwellings, now have to be licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Safety Building Board of Regulation and Standards.
Any contractors wishing to get these licenses have until July 1, 2008 to apply for them. Applications are available in the lobby of the Town Hall. With information attached, after July 1, 2008 an exam will need to be taken. |
