Employment Opportunities

The Phillipston Fire Department is always looking for dedicated individuals to become on-call firefighters. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, be a high school graduate, possess a Massachusetts drivers’ license and be willing to be on-call for emergency call outs when they are available. It is preferred that applicants live within a reasonable distance to the station. State law requires that all new hires must be non-smokers. All applicants will be subject to a CORI check.  All applicants will need to pass a physical prior to being hired.

All new hires are encouraged to obtain their EMT license within one year of employment. Ongoing training will be provided by the Department. All employees are required annually to maintain a level of first aid training, CPR, and hazardous material awareness, and complete and pass first responder training every 2 years (if not an EMT) in addition to firefighting training.  All new hires will be required to attend/pass the Call/Volunteer Recruit Academy at the MA Fire Academy within one year of hire.
